Born and raised in Nokomis, Avril graduated from high school there and attended the College of Commerce at UofS where she completed her first year before attending Lakeland College in Vermillion, AB. After graduating with a Diploma in Business Administration she worked in the family ag businesses (seed growing, processing, and ag spraying) where she met her husband, Brad. They married in 1988 and set up housekeeping in Watrous. They are still married and have a grown-up son, Evan who also lives in Watrous with his son.
In 1990 Avril and her mom acquired the Hallmark Store in Watrous which they ran until 2006. Avril got her real estate license in 2003 at the suggestion of a friend and mentor who was retiring and looking for someone to take over her book of business in the area. Avril worked real estate very part-time at first, pursuing basic goals. She became a Broker in 2008, but it wasn’t until 2012 when she purchased the Realty Executives franchise and she decided to let go of her “security blanket” part-time job that her business really took off.
Over the years she has been involved in the community through various roles in different organizations. As a parent, she took part in school, minor sports, and speed swimming events. She was a Kinette for many years, holding all the executive positions, and served on the Credit Union Board, Nursery School Board, and School Community Council (elementary and high school). She currently sits on the Watrous Library Board in addition to being the 2022 SRA Chairperson. In all her “spare time” she loves to read, bake, work on scrapbooks and other crafts, and spend time at the lake.
Avril expresses that the decision to run for a seat on the association Board was not made lightly, but one that she would make again. She takes pride in the progress the Board has made since its inception, and she looks forward to the association’s continued growth as a leader in the industry. She states that she has been fortunate to meet many of our members and she looks forward to continuing those personal connections long after her term on the board has ended.
Avril is Past-Chairperson for the Board, and the Chairperson of the Nominations Committee and the Risk Committee.

Mike spent 17 years in the tire business and changed direction in 2002 when he entered real estate as part of a group that purchased the Royal LePage Regina Realty franchise. Mike continues to run that brokerage to this day. He found there was a steep learning curve to pick up the new terminology, rules, regulations, and processes but he has loved pretty much every minute of it.
Mike has two grown daughters with families of their own and a total of 5 grandchildren. They live in two highly affordable markets…. Toronto and Vancouver! He has been happily married to his wife Lynne for 40+ years. He enjoys cooking, and golf and of course is a big Rider fan.
In 2007 he accepted the Broker representative position on the ARR Board becoming the President in 2012. He sat on the SREC Board for three years and during that time he was on the Legislation Committee which undertook a complete rewrite of the Real Estate Act. Mike believes that his experience and perspective add great value to the association. He indicated that he finds the real estate industry in rapidly changing times and states that at times like these, it is increasingly important to remember what the core purpose of the organization is.
Mike is a Director with the association currently in his second year. He is the Chairperson of the Ownership Linkage Committee.
