The REALTOR® Trademark
Not every licensed or registered broker or salesperson is a REALTOR®. To be a REALTOR®, the agent must be a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association and adhere to their standards.
More than just a symbol, the REALTOR® trademark is the exclusive designation for a member of The Canadian Real Estate Association. All SRA members are also CREA members. It symbolizes a commitment to competence, service and professional conduct.
REALTORS® have the tools to do the job right.
- REALTOR® Forms – REALTORS® have access to standard forms that cover almost every real estate scenario out there. There’s no guessing game, regardless of how common or unique the transaction is. While all registrants licensed to buy and sell real estate have access to basic forms, only REALTORS® have access to dozens of SRA developed forms that dig into the details to give you, as a consumer, peace of mind to ensure the job has been done right!
- Multiple Listings System® (MLS®) – the MLS® system, managed by the SRA, populates REALTOR.ca, which is owned by CREA; therefore only members of the SRA and CREA, aka REALTORS®, have access to list properties on the MLS® system in Saskatchewan. It’s also a huge source of information for our members, providing advanced search functionality. If you’re buying or selling property, access to the MLS® system is one of the best marketing and search tools in the market. (reference CREA stats on REALTOR.ca usage)
- Ongoing Educational Opportunities – REALTORS® are educated on all the ins and outs of real estate – everything from legal and regulatory requirements to negotiation tools. Upon joining the profession, all SRA members are required to complete a New Member Orientation week-long training session that covers all the basics of real estate, and the tips and tricks you need to know to get started in this business. The SRA provides professional development opportunities throughout the year, covering topics like buying, selling, leadership, marketing and more. The more knowledge and tools your REALTOR® has at his or her disposal, the better the potential results are for you!
REALTORS® have market knowledge
In real estate, nothing stays the same. What you paid for your property yesterday may be completely different from what you sell for tomorrow. REALTORS® have access to market statistics and comparables in your neighbourhood to determine fair market price and provide you with advice you need to make an educated decision on what you are willing to buy or sell for. With in-house specialists providing REALTORS® with data they need, you’ll be in good hands when it comes to pricing property!

Despite being independent businesspeople, REALTORS® work together as a community to ensure their clients get the best of the best.
