What is REALTORS Care® Week?

During REALTORS Care® Week, REALTORS® come together to support housing and shelter-related charities across Canada. This includes any organization on the housing continuum. This year we have chosen to amplify the voice of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan is a local nonprofit housing organization with a global vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. They operate three ReStore’s throughout the province in Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials. Shopping at a Habitat ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as funds generated are used to fund local Habitat for Humanity homebuilding projects. It’s also an environmentally conscious decision, as much of what is sold is product that is new, gently used or customer returns that would otherwise end up in a landfill.


How can you participate in REALTORS Care® Week?

# 1 – Spread the word about the ReStore!

By sharing our social media posts you are increasing awareness about the ReStore and the benefits of shopping and volunteering at their facilitates. You can also create your own posts and add information to your newsletters.

Explore Transformative Volunteering

Transformative Volunteering is an approach that emphasizes the exploration and application of empathy and inclusivity in corporate community engagement. Employee volunteer leaders are trained to manage social impact projects in a way that results in sustainable, systemic outcomes.

Transformative Volunteering helps volunteers: understand who the task or project is for and why it matters; guides participants through their volunteer experience; and invites critical reflection afterwards. This approach increases the impact of corporate volunteering and leads to benefits such as:

  • More engaged employees
  • More inclusive workplaces
  • Employees that center empathy in their work and lives
  • Stronger relationships with community partners and organizations
